I can't last here. basics FULL NAME: Ophelia Su Towler NAME MEANING: Ophelia, meaning is "help"; Su, meaning is "pure"; Towler, Family name, toll taker or tax gatherer, from Middle English toll "tax, payment". NICKNAME(S): Ophelia BIRTH DATE: 7 July AGE: Sixteen YEAR: Sixth HOUSE: Slytherin WAND: Myrtle, thirteen inches, dragon heartstring core. BLOODLINE: Half-Blood history Ophelia Towler is the only child of Kenneth Towler and Su (nee Li) Towler. Kenneth was a successful Quidditch player as the Keeper for the Montrose Magpies but now works at the Ministry of Magic at the Department of Games and Sports as the Head of the British and Irish League Headquarters while Su works as a Potioneer at St. Mungo's. As a child, Ophelia was spoiled to the point of excess, especially by her doting father. Her mother, however, tried to counterbalance this by teaching Ophelia to be shrewder and more discerning. While she wasn’t a stubborn child, hardly ever throwing tantrums, Ophelia was aware of how she could manipulate those around her to suit her plans. Even as a child, she understood the mechanisms of people’s interactions; Ophelia has the uncanny insight to understand some of the inner workings of a person’s mind. Her magical ability started asserting when she was just four years of age, when she grew her hair long overnight after she was teased by her playmates of looking like a boy with her short haircut. As expected, she received her Hogwarts letter when she turned 11. She was Sorted into Slytherin, much to her father and mother’s surprise as they expected her to be in either Gryffinfor or Ravenclaw, which were their Houses. The Sorting Hat first contemplated placing Ophelia in Ravenclaw because of her intellect but it soon recognised her driving ambition and inherent talent for manipulation. While she is in the top percentile in all her classes, no one doubts why she was placed in Slytherin. Expectedly, Ophelia is very loyal to her House and while she does not disparage any of the other Houses, she will retaliate if someone attacks hers, especially if she deems it an unfair accusation. Although Ophelia excels in academia, she prefers spending her time writing. She writes poetry and literature mostly but she never shows her work to anyone. Her works are often very personal and incredibly honest and unabashed, very much unlike her constructed identity as an indifferent and guarded individual. She hides the fact that she enjoys reading poetry because she thinks it might make her look weak. Ophelia has a small ‘inner circle’ of sorts. She interacts with most students, of course, but she generally prefers the company of these select individuals. She also tries to avoid any contact with people who annoy her, mostly people who tend to be overbearingly cheerful or slow. Although she does enjoy the company of people who amuse her, either through infantile humour or wit. But she'll never let them know that personally, of course. Ophelia has not been in any serious relationships although she has dated extensively. Her father wanted her to participate more in Quidditch at Hogwarts, in the hope that Ophelia will follow in his footsteps. However, she had other plans. She wants to train as a Healer when she graduates at Hogwarts although she sometimes fancies becoming a full-time writer and abandoning everything else. personality The general opinion on Ophelia Towler is dominated by a single word: arrogance. Perhaps it is because she knows that she’s smarter than most people or maybe years of interaction with her father, Kenneth, has taken a toll on her attitude. Either way, Ophelia doesn’t tolerate foolishness or stupidity. This trait of hers has prompted others to also brand her as an aloof individual, which she isn’t. She enjoys the company of a select few, most of who are from Slytherin and Ravenclaw, and even though she tells them that she only tolerates them because they irritate her less than the others, she is quite fond of her friends. Ophelia is generally a quiet person and this is not because she is shy, far from it in fact. She dislikes having the need to converse when there is no need to. While she is generally seen as a cold and detached person, she is actually quite passionate and warm—she just prefers to hide that fact in order to keep herself from getting hurt. Ophelia is ambitious and cunning; she will use everything in her power to achieve her means if she really wants to. She also has a very long memory—she will not forget any kindness or cruelty against her, and because of that she tends to cling to grudges when scorned. There is a softer side to Ophelia, however. She has maternal tendencies especially when it comes to her platonic male friends; this often asserts itself when her friends are hurt, confused or jilted. And even though Ophelia tries to hide behind her arrogance and indifference, she is a romantic at heart and often fancies herself in love with someone but quickly falls out of it if the romantic notion is diminished. appearance Ophelia has her mother’s delicate features and her father’s height. She stands at 5’10’’ and has a lean, angular build. And while she had inherited her mother’s Asian features, such as the dark hair and almond-shaped eyes, Ophelia had the same blue-grey coloured eyes as her father. Ophelia likes intellectuals or those who are slightly more well-versed, mostly because they are on the same level as she is and she won't have to dumb down her speech just to be understood. Arrogance? Also a turn on. TURN OFFS: Young men who are shorter than her, which pretty much means anyone under five feet ten. Ophelia also dislikes those who are too obnoxious or too loud, as well as those who refuse to have an ounce of maturity in them. Facial hair, piercings, bleached hair? No, thank you. She also doesn't like bad teeth or bad hygiene either. AMORTENTIA POTION: The smell of rain, new books, cherries and an aftershave she cannot place, which smells like ocean spray. likes/dislikes LIKES Ophelia has a soft spot for Muggle literature and poetry and she owns a sizable collection of books - most of it of the classical romance genre (Austen, Radcliffe, Bronte, others). She also thrives on getting her way, which is her nature. Ophelia adores rainy days and winters, preferring the cold climate to summer. She prefers tea rather than coffee. DISLIKES Stupidity. Speaks for itself, in Ophelia's books. She doesn't like having to dumb down her speech so other people can understand her. Excessive noise. She dislikes being misunderstood, or having her intentions interpretted differently from what she originally meant. astrology SLYTHERIN CANCER: Potions, potions, and more potions.
